Impact of relegation
1. New signings become a problem to sell if they don't have relegation release clauses in their contracts. They will be challenging to move on, as they will have high wages and would be sold at a significant loss.

2. The stadium could be half-empty. Our last two stints in the division below averaged about 30,000. In a ground built for 66,000, aesthetically, it will look terrible when crowds are lower than half-full.

3. Failing to achieve promotion - I believe we'd have a long and dark period at the club if we were relegated, which would echo what happened to Leeds, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, and Forest. Two of those clubs are back in the Premier League, but it took years, including dropping down to the third tier. Worst case, the club became a financial basket case and go into administration.

If we do go down and get the chance to rebuild, our management (structure) will soundly kick that chance firmly in it's bollocks and tell it to fuck off.

The only thing we've done consistently well down the decades is royally fuck up our chance to improve when given it.

Re: Impact of relegation
We're not not necessarily going down.I think Newcastle had about 12 points after 19 games last season but still managed to stay up comfortably.I do recall however they did sign a few players in the january window.

Re: Impact of relegation
It wouldn't make any difference to me, I like going to these shit hole grounds, hopefully more Saturday 3pm kick offs, cheaper prices, win more games, more matches. I despise the premier league with its fucking VAR and obsession with the top 6. Maybe a season or two in the Championship would allow us to reinvent ourselves and become a bigger and better version of Brighton or Brentford.

'more cheaper tickets,'

maybe

'food, beer.'

no chance

'Winning more games'

you hope

'Different aways'

Take a look at the Championship and top half of League 1. Most of us have visited those places many times, so not much novelty there. And, quite frankly, the prospect of having to visit the hell-hole khazis that are Stoke and Sheffield twice each in one season is enough to make you, well, fuck a dook.

Cannot believe people think going down will have benefits. It will be a disaster on many fronts.

Manuel 5:14 Tue Jan 17
Re: Impact of relegation
Not the old 'benefits' to going down spill again, it's so fucking cringe and convinces nobody. It would be a fucking disaster and could send us into the abyss for years, and all in a half empty soulless bowl.

The biggest gain would be that the dwarf walks if we don't bounce back up once the parachute money is gone.

New owners professionally run for first time hopefully.

No more tourists and daytrippers. Less queue's and more cheaper tickets, food, beer. Millwall. Winning more games. Different aways. Less foreign and other mercenaries, more younger hungry home grown players.

The away days will be fun

But lets have it right relegation will be a disaster from top to bottom for the club

The squad will get torn apart, financially we'll take a huge hit on Scamacca Rice and Paqueta and how shit will it be watching Preston at home with 30,000 empty seats on a Tuesday eve

For me relegation is on how quick they sack Moyes. This squad with a half decent manager will comfortably hit 40 points

We go down we keep sully. His gamble is on a quick return and then he sells. I don’t think he’s bothered of we go down to be honest.

Re: Impact of relegation
you genuinely think a buyer would buy the club quickly in April at a set price without premier league status being assured Sully, you cretin?

SullyHammer 3:31 Tue Jan 17
Re: Impact of relegation
Thing for Sullivan is he can sell after April. However, surely he will be a bit worried whether the value goes down given our current form and league position. However, if he hires someone short term and the new manager syndrome improves our form for a couple of months (post April) he gets his money but also, the form may then dip after and we still go down.

Thus, Sullivan laughs all the way to the bank and we still go down - not that he would give a fuck.

So in short, this new manager appointment needs to be the correct one!

"2. The stadium could be half-empty. Our last two stints in the division below averaged about 30,000.."

Will mean most of the fans get a lot closer to the pitch which wouldn't be a bad thing.

"3. Failing to achieve promotion - I believe we'd have a long and dark period at the club if we were relegated, which would echo what happened to Leeds, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, and Forest."

When I look at the quality of the fanbases of those clubs and how ours has degenerated into Arsenal lite, it looks like being in the championship for a few years could be good for us.

from what i understand about people who are looking at the club to buy, relegation would be an absolute disaster

Re: Impact of relegation
Which current players actually stay if we go down?

Downes, cresswell, johnson. Maybe lanzini and antonio?

Ogbonna and Fabianski get another year.

Rest will be running out the door. Cornet being pushed out on his wheelchair by Zouma.

Dont think it will happen, Moffi will get 10+ goals and keep us up.

Re: Impact of relegation
Going down for absolute sure if we lose or draw on Saturday, replace Moyes or not. Simply cannot overstate the importance of winning that game and a few other massive 6 pointers that we should also be winning on paper. Goal Difference is important and thats one thing marginally in our favour for now.

Almost cetainly going down if we keep moyes. Hes been struggling for a year and we've managed to be even worse since the massive summer investment. Our form is NOT going to suddenly flip around and changes should have been made weeks ago.

Going down will be humiliating and really crush us this time. Total rebuilding job and definitely not coming straight back at the fist time of asking. Sullivan is ultimately going to be looking a right prick for standing by Moyes.

The EFL (or more pertinently, Rick Parry) want the parachute payments stopped and the cash redistributed more evenly throughout the EFL.

According to Rick Parry, two-thirds of EFL clubs are insolvent. In which case why aren't they being wound up, but that is another issue.

The Premier League have so far told him to fuck off on the parachute payments.

Re: Impact of relegation
We could def go down for sure, don't get me wrong, but it's only mid-Jan and only half the games played so too early to predict certain doom for me, but we can't afford to lose on Saturday.

Another worry is apart from possibly B'mouth there are no obvious teams to write off what with Soton and Forest now picking up, so may need 40 pts this season. Also have to worry about who is going to score the goals for us as we can't hit a barn door right now, or even carve out many chances..
